Tutorial Thursday ~ Some Bunny Love!

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Since Easter is right around the corner I thought I’d share a card I made for my parents.

Here’s what you’ll need to start:

  • felt circles; 1 large, 2 medium, 1 small (I used my Sizzix circle dies to cut these!)
  • 2 felt “long leaf” shapes
  • 1 felt shaped nose
  • embroidery thread
  • 2 brads (not shown)
  • a white piece of cardstock for teeth
  • optional: ribbon, charm
  • TOOLS: scissors, wet adhesive, glue dots, needle

Step One:

Sew 3 French knots per medium felt circle.

Stitch a line of stitching down the insides of each felt ear and adhere the tips, folding them down. I stitching mine down but you could use wet adhesive or glue dots.

Position your brad eyes on your large felt circle. This step can wait until you have assembled your bunny if you wish.

Step Two:

Using your wet adhesive adhere the cheeks to the main circle of the bunny’s head.

Step Three:

Adhere the cardstock teeth to the smallest felt circle (bunny chin).

Adhere the nose on to the cheeks and the middle of the face.

Step Four:

Adhere your bunny ears to your card base design.

Step Five:

Adhere your completed bunny head over top the ears and on to your card base. Add further desired embellishments.

I added a ribbon, a ribbon bow and I sewed on a heart charm.

Step Six:

Don’t forget to stamp or write a sentiment on the inside of the card!

Products Used:

Scrapperie, “The Journey Home” kit.

There ya go! A cute little bunny to spread some bunny love!

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial! If you create a bunny card, please share it with us and we’ll highlight it on the blog!

Wordy Wednesday

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

This week’s chosen word is:

Goofy

: being crazy, ridiculous, or mildly ludicrous : silly <a goofy sense of humor> <that hat looks goofy>

Here is a cute layout I did of Paige. She is forever giving me goofy looks and acting goofy when she has had enough of me taking her picture. What she doesn’t realize is that I push her to this point on purpose because that is when I get my favorite photos!

I would love for you to be inspired to create something using this week’s word. It can be in your title, your photo(s) or your subject. Don’t forget that if you complete any sketch puzzle challenge, Monday challenge, wordy Wednesday challenge or submit a tip for Tip Tuesday then you will automatically be entered to win this month’s Blog Prize!! So get scrapping and either send them to me at( thynner5@yahoo.ca ) or link them in the blog!

Tip Tuesday ~ Alphabet Bling

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Today’s tip is all about creating your own glitter letters.

All you need is letter stickers or chipboard letters and some glitter glue, like Ranger’s Stickles.

Apply your letters to your project and “bling” ‘em up by applying your glitter glue of choice. Use white stickers or chipboard and add any colour or use coloured letters and apply a coloured glitter. Either way, you get the desired sparkle on your letters!

If you would like a chance to win this month’s Blog Prize then complete any challenge, send in a tip or technique or use one of the fonts on a layout or card. Send them to Tara: thynner5@yahoo.ca and put CCAS Blog in the subject line.

Challenge Monday

Monday, March 17th, 2008

It’s time for this week’s challenge. I would like to see some journaling. No cheating by using quotes or song lyrics. I have a tendancy to do this often and realized that I need to express myself more on some of my pages.

So, I want to see your own words on your page. You can use your own handwriting or you can use the computer. If you use one of this month’s fonts, you will earn an extra ballot for this month’s Blog Prize.

Here is my layout of Steve and the girls. I used a Becky Fleck sketch for this one.

Journaling reads: “Daddy left you in the truck with the radio running when he slipped into
the bank. When he returned you were both sobbing. He was really concerned with all the tears. He thought something terrible had happened in the few minutes he was gone. He asked you both why you were so upset. You told him you heard a song on the radio about a little girl who tells her Daddy that
he “can let go now Daddy, you can Let go. I’m old enough to face this world alone”. It was a story of a girl not needing her Daddy anymore. You both then looked up at him and said, “Daddy we never want you to let go!! We will never leave you”. You both made your Daddys heart swell with love. You should know that Daddy never wants you to let go either!”

If you take me up on this challenge and either email your layout to me or provide a link, you will be entered into this months’s Blog Prize Draw!!

Send them to: thynner5@yahoo.ca.  Please put “CCAS Blog Challenge” in the subject line. Good luck.

Font Friday

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

One of my newest favourite fonts to use is the “CK Ali’s writing” font! I just love the odd hand scrolled letters verses some plain and printed letters. It reminds me a little bit of my own hand writing…. a mix of hand writing and printing!

You can download Ali’s hand writing font here.

I hope can use this beautiful font in your creations somehow!

Tutorial Thursday

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I was going through the Resources section again trying to find a certain technique I have always wanted to try and just never gotten around to it. I found it right away. Jen did a fantastic job organizing everything!

I would love for you to take a moment and check out this great stamping technique that Brendab posted for us. I love how she stamped on fabric to create these wonderful flower embellishments. You can find it here: Stamped Fabric Embellishments

I would love to see what you can come up with using this technique. You can email it to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca , please put CCAS blog in the subject line. You can also link it on the blog. You will recieve a ballot for this month’s Blog Prize draw!

Have fun and good luck!

Wordy Wednesday

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

The word of the week is TODAY… yup “today“.

Today is defined as:

  • the present time or age; “the world of today”; “today we have computers”
  • nowadays: in these times; “it is solely by their language that the upper classes nowadays are distinguished”- Nancy Mitford; “we now rarely see horse-drawn vehicles on city streets”; “today almost every home has television”
  • the day that includes the present moment (as opposed to yesterday or tomorrow); “Today is beautiful”; “did you see today’s newspaper?”
  • on this day as distinct from yesterday or tomorrow; “I can’t meet with you today”

I want to see you use the word “today” in your layout.  So grab your camera and take some shots “today” and create a page all about your everyday.

Here’s a page I created a few weeks ago about my feelings I had on one rather significant day in my life….

Don’t forget that if you complete any sketch puzzle challenge, Monday challenge, wordy Wednesday challenge or submit a tip for Tip Tuesday then you will automatically be entered to win this month’s Blog Prize!! So get scrapping and either send them to Tara ( thynner5@yahoo.ca ) or link them in the blog!

Happy Scrappin’!!

Tip Tuesday

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

I received a wonderful layout today from Renee that I wanted to share with you. She sent it in for the Paint Challenge I last week.

I hope you noticed how Renee utilized paint on her layout. She said that she used stickers as a mask and painted over them. Then, she peeled the stickers away and was left with the cardstock background!! What a great tip! It sure adds alot of pizzaz to the page.

Thanks Renee for sending me the layout. It is fantastic.

You now have two ballots for this month’s Blog Prize Draw. One is for sending in a layout based on my challenge and the other ballot is for the great mask techinique!

If you would like a chance to win this month’s Blog Prize then complete any challenge, send in a tip or technique or use one of the fonts on a layout or card. Send them to: thynner5@yahoo.ca and put CCAS Blog in the subject line.
