Wordy Wednesday - Father’s Day Poetry for Cards

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

I am always at a loss as to what to write in the inside of my cards so today, I thought I would share some fun Father’s Day themed poems and short notes that you might want to include in your up and coming cards!

A Father Means..
Author: Unknown
A Father means so many things…
An understanding heart,
A source of strength and support
right from the very start.

A constant readiness to help
In a kind and thoughtful way.
With encouragement and forgiveness,

No matter what comes your way.
A special generosity and always affection, too.
A father means so many things
when he’s a man like you….

Father’s are Wonderful People
Author: UNKNOWN
Fathers are wonderful people,
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should,

For Father struggles daily
to live up to his image
As protector and provider
and hero of the scrimmage,

And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimes get the notion
That fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion.

But if you look inside Dad’s heart,
where no one else can see,
You’ll find he’s sentimental
and soft as he can be.

Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,

For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and bring them happiness,

And like our heavenly Father,
he’s a guardian and a guide,
Someone we can count on
to be always on our side.

To My Daddy
Author: Skye Karls for 3 yr old daughter Aiyana
I am your snickerpots,
And I love you lots and lots.
In the car, you drive fast.
In the backseat, I have a blast.
Vroom, Vroom, go daddy go!
Faster… Faster, while mom screams Nooooo!
You keep me safe and still have fun,
I love you more than anyone!
Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!
My Gift to You
Author: K. Bosko
They say wings are a gift, coming from heaven above
Handed down by God and given out of love
They say wings are a gift, given to God’s precious few
To those who are selfless, caring and true
Knowing this, I can only pray-
That I will get my wings one day
Should I receive this gift from above
I will give these wings to you, with love
For God has given a gift to me
I have written it down for you to read;
To get my wings I must be selfless, caring and true
These are things I have learned from you
You see- God’s special gift, granted to me
…is you are my ‘dad’, and forever will be
They say wings are a gift, coming from heaven above
Handed down by God, and given of His love
They say wings are a gift, receive by God’s precious few
If God gave me wings….
I would give them to You.
I hope at least one of these poem inspires you!  Create a page or a card using this week’s poems and share it with us here.

Email your creation to Tara at: thynner5@yahoo.ca or link it below using “CCAS Wordy Wednesday” in your subject line. You will earn a ballot for this month’s blog draw!!

Happy Scrapping!

A Creative Chick ~ Anne Marie Brenner

Monday, June 1st, 2009

I am thrilled to introduce our next Creative Chick!!

Here is …. Anne Marie Brenner:

Here is a little about her:

I just turned the big 40 this year arrrrrggg!!!!! No really it’s not so bad. I will be married to a wonderful man for 15 years this July. I have the million-dollar family, one soon to be 14-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. My family is number 1 to me!!! I have one sister that I get to enjoy lots of laughs and scrapbooking fun with. Her and I get together quite often and scrap away or go away learning new ideas from different classes.

I live in a small town, St. Mary’s and love it. It is beautiful and quiet until we get our machines going hehehe. Our family loves to fourwheel, snowmobile, dirt bike and any other outdoors things. We have a cottage up north about 5 hours away that we love to go to and enjoy family time. No phones, no t.v. just us….. and of course some of my scrappy supplies.

I am a SAHM so I do get to enjoy lots of time to scrap. It really relaxes me and I love to see the joy in my family’s faces when they see my finished projects.

I would like to thank Tara for asking me to be a part of the CCAS blog!

Wordy Wednesday: WILD

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

This week’s word is WILD.  I thought I’d stay on the crazy theme this week!  LOL!

Wild is defined as:

  • marked by extreme lack of restraint or control; “wild talk”; “wild parties”
  • in a natural state; not tamed or domesticated or cultivated; “wild geese”; “edible wild plants”
  • in a state of extreme emotion; “wild with anger”; “wild with grief”
  • deviating widely from an intended course; “a wild bullet”; “he threw a wild pitch”

For this week’s word I created this page:

To submit your page using the Wordy Wednesday word, email your creation with “CCAS Wordy Wednesday” in your subject line to Tara at thynner5@yahoo.ca.  Each time you participate in a challenge or use a word of the week or use one of our tutorials, you are entered into our monthly contest for a nice scrapbook related prize.  Good luck!

Tip of the Day: Straight Titles

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

I have a serious addiction to all alphabet stickers!  Especially American Craft’s many, many Thickers!

One thing I have learned over my years of crafting is that putting letter stickers straight is HARD sometimes!  Here’s my trick for adding them to your pages….

Grab a clear plastic or metal ruler….

Using the edge of the ruler, line up all your letters along the edge, keeping them all level.  Just lightly press your letters on the ruler as you go.   This will make it easier to remove them.

Since your ruler is either plastic or metal, you can easily reposition your stickers along it’s length.

Use the little measurement markings on the ruler as your depth guide for the bottom of your letters.

Now to position them, simply lay your ruler down on your project exactly where you wish your letters to be and press the tops of them to your paper.  Carefully lift the ruler and flip it forward to release the letters.  You may have one stick but it will easy to position a single letter within your title.

Volia!  A straight title!
