Chat: Jlyne Hanback

[newmommy2scrap] 8:29 pm: Hi Jlyne!  My name is Ally!  I’ll be your lovely host tonight!! LOL!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:29 pm: Welcome to our chat room!  We’re so glad you could join us this evening!!

[JlyneHanback] 8:29 pm: Hi there!

[JlyneHanback] 8:30 pm: Nice to meet you, Ally!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:30 pm: We’re so happy you could come and join us this evening!

[JlyneHanback] 8:31 pm: I am very honored to be asked to come and participate.

[newmommy2scrap] 8:31 pm: We’re so honoured you could be here!

[JlyneHanback] 8:33 pm: So is anyone working on any specific projects this week?

[Tanya] 8:34 pm: I have a few layouts I am trying to get done in time for due dates - taking me forever though

[newmommy2scrap] 8:34 pm: I think we’ll all be recovering from over scrapping’ - lots of great challenges for our charity crop

[JlyneHanback] 8:34 pm: I am such a slow scrapper.

[craftybull] 8:34 pm: the board has been working so hard on the charity crop.

[newmommy2scrap] 8:34 pm: how long does it take you to scrap an average page?

[Tanya] 8:34 pm: ahh I can so relate..I went to a 12 hour crop this weekend and got not one page done

[JlyneHanback] 8:34 pm: It looks like the crop went well! What a great event!

[JlyneHanback] 8:35 pm: An average page could take me anywhere from 2-3 hours to a few days!

[JlyneHanback] 8:35 pm: Sometimes I leave the page then come back to it the next day. Or the next week. HAHAHA!

[craftybull] 8:35 pm: oh good someone who scraps like me.

[Tanya] 8:35 pm: I am glad see I am not the only one like that Jlyne

[newmommy2scrap] 8:35 pm: I think we all do that sometimes!!! lol!!

[JlyneHanback] 8:35 pm: I know what you mean, Tanya! Usually I don’t get anything done at crops because I am too busy running my yap!

[Tanya] 8:36 pm: how about the next month..lol

[scrapfriend] 8:36 pm: oh me, a gal after my own heart

[newmommy2scrap] 8:36 pm: do you attend any regular crops in your area Jlyne?

[JlyneHanback] 8:36 pm: No, not on a regular basis, but there is a great group that always scraps once a month in Dallas and I just seem to busy every time the date rolls around to go!

[JlyneHanback] 8:37 pm: But again, all I do is talk so I never get anything done! HAHA!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:37 pm: do you have your own scrap studio/room?

[JlyneHanback] 8:38 pm: I do have my own studio! At our old house, I just had a space out in the garage-converted-office, but here I have my own room.

[JlyneHanback] 8:38 pm: It is still a work in progress, though.

[newmommy2scrap] 8:38 pm: aren’t they always!!!

[craftybull] 8:38 pm: it’s been a tough year for you

[JlyneHanback] 8:39 pm: Yeah, definitely a little bit eventful! It has been so full of blessings, though.

[newmommy2scrap] 8:39 pm: tell us about your biggest obstacle with your tough year

[JlyneHanback] 8:39 pm: I am horrible at organizing stuff. I love to read the articles in the mags about organizing your scrap space.

[newmommy2scrap] 8:40 pm: what kind of storage items do you like to use for things like paper?

[JlyneHanback] 8:40 pm: I think the biggest obstacle was getting the kids to see that although we moved to another city/state and lost everything we had, that things would get better and they would settle in.

[craftybull] 8:40 pm: I just always thought you would have to be organized to be such a busy designer

[JlyneHanback] 8:40 pm: For paper I use a custom-built upright rack that my hubby made for me. It holds tons of paper! I will post a picture of it on my blog tonight!

[AngelBear] 8:40 pm: I saw on your blog about the mum shopping….what did his date say?

[scoobiescrapper] 8:41 pm: I’ve never heard of those before, pretty wild. was she impressed?

[JlyneHanback] 8:41 pm: Ha - me being organized - I could only wish! Funny thing is that I have little piles of stuff here and there but I always know right where to find stuff!!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:41 pm: wonderful to have a creative hubby !!!

[JlyneHanback] 8:41 pm: Oh his date loved the mum!!!

[AngelBear] 8:41 pm: It looked hilarious

[JlyneHanback] 8:42 pm: She was pretty excited about that crazy mum! I had heard of giving flowers, etc. but these big honkin’ mums were just something else! LOL!

[AngelBear] 8:42 pm: Seems like a hysterical tradition

[JlyneHanback] 8:42 pm: I guess they really mean it when they say everything is bigger in Texas! HAHA!

[JlyneHanback] 8:42 pm: It is funny because a lot of the moms here will get together and have these “mum-making parties”.

[scoobiescrapper] 8:43 pm: Love the layout you just posted. The sun room is one of my absolute CBX favs. You did a beautiful job!!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:43 pm: how cool - ever been to one?

[JlyneHanback] 8:43 pm: Oh my goodness, thank you so much! It is my favorite Chatterbox room!

[JlyneHanback] 8:43 pm: I have not ever been to one.

[scoobiescrapper] 8:43 pm: I wish I could sew. I’m sewing machine illiterate.

[JlyneHanback] 8:44 pm: Although I may try my hand at making one next year - I can think of some cool little scrapbooking things to add to them - like chipboard letters, etc.!

[JlyneHanback] 8:44 pm: LOL  I can sew on paper but couldn’t sew a stitch of fabric!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:44 pm: what is it about this particular room that you like the most?

[mrogers] 8:44 pm: I just got addicted to my sewing machine again, this time on paper.

[JlyneHanback] 8:45 pm: I think the bright, vivid colors! Some of the Chatterbox colors are more muted, so I really like the brighter ones.

[scoobiescrapper] 8:45 pm: me too!!!!!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:45 pm: it seems to be a trend this year - bright colour palettes

[newmommy2scrap] 8:46 pm: what do you see in the near future for Chatterbox?

[JlyneHanback] 8:46 pm: Hmmm…..

[JlyneHanback] 8:46 pm: That is a tough question.

[JlyneHanback] 8:46 pm: Because ever since we got a new design team coordinator, we haven’t really received as much information on how they plan to do things in the future.

[mrogers] 8:47 pm: so how is Texas Jlyne!

[JlyneHanback] 8:47 pm: We adore Texas and wish we would have moved hear a long time ago!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:47 pm: what’s your favourite embellishment to use?

[JlyneHanback] 8:48 pm: My favorite embellishment would have to be some sort of flower. Not real original, I know. LOL!

[LynnAnne] 8:48 pm: Jlyne — would you just tell me how to pronounce your name? (Sorry if this was already covered!)

[mrogers] 8:48 pm: I am so glad and from your blog it seems your family has settled.

[JlyneHanback] 8:48 pm: It is pronounced Jay-Leen.

[Kim M.] 8:48 pm: Jlyne…question.  Do you see Chatterbox going to a new trend?  Or will it be more chipboard/rub-ons in the future?

[Kim M.] 8:48 pm: And, do you think there will be more chatterbox overlays on the horizon?

[scoobiescrapper] 8:48 pm: LOL, we’re not getting anything out of you are we???

[JlyneHanback] 8:48 pm: I apologize for the typos - my computer doesn’t like the space bar so sometimes my words are run together. LOL

[JlyneHanback] 8:49 pm: I think that Chatterbox will expand to include other embellishments.

[mrogers] 8:49 pm: Jlyne I was glad to have met you at CHA….so funny how people are afraid to approach scrap celebrities…not me, lol

[JlyneHanback] 8:49 pm: And they will continue to re-release old favorite rooms with new patterns and the addition of a new color or two.

[scoobiescrapper] 8:49 pm: Ok, so I know it’s jayleen, and I’m forcing myself to say jayleen a lot before next October but in my head I still sometimes say J lyne.

[JlyneHanback] 8:50 pm: Oh that was great meeting you! I was probably such a dork! LOL!

[mrogers] 8:50 pm: not a dork at all….still glowing I think from the sb etc announcement!!

[mrogers] 8:50 pm: how is that going?

[JlyneHanback] 8:50 pm: I am still scared to death to approach Carol Wingert or Heidi Swapp! They just laugh at me because I still am so star struck by them.

[JlyneHanback] 8:50 pm: haha

[newmommy2scrap] 8:51 pm: is it funny the reactions that people give you know that people recognize your face on the street?

[JlyneHanback] 8:51 pm: OMG the SBetc announcement! That was the hardest secret ever to keep!!!

[LynnAnne] 8:51 pm: How long did you keep it secret?

[JlyneHanback] 8:51 pm: Well, they recognize my youngest son, Alex, even more! It is a riot! He has been recognized at the store, in restaurants, at school - it is so funny!!

[LynnAnne] 8:51 pm: And WHO did you tell early? You had to tell SOMEONE!!

[JlyneHanback] 8:52 pm: Hahaha - I told Jill Godon!!! LOL!

[mrogers] 8:52 pm: lol, love Jill!!

[JlyneHanback] 8:52 pm: I had to keep it secret for about three weeks.

[mrogers] 8:52 pm: that is a long time…..I bet Noel was going crazy….he, he

[LynnAnne] 8:52 pm:      Those must have been three LONG weeks! LOL

[craftybull] 8:52 pm: that must have been hard

[scoobiescrapper] 8:52 pm: LOL Jill probably knows more secrets about alot of people!!! she’s so easy to talk to.

[JlyneHanback] 8:53 pm: LOL Mary! He did!

[JlyneHanback] 8:53 pm: I love Jill - she is the sweetest person.

[JlyneHanback] 8:53 pm: And so talented - she deserves every good thing that comes her way!

[mrogers] 8:54 pm: Madison is sleeping and I am itching to scrap.  What are you guys working on?

[JlyneHanback] 8:54 pm: I just finished a page for the Designing with Color challenge.

[JlyneHanback] 8:54 pm: So anyone else here in Texas?

[LynnAnne] 8:54 pm: Naw. Jersey.

[AngelBear] 8:55 pm: I am working on a min album gift what about you?

[scoobiescrapper] 8:55 pm: unpacking my scraproom. we just moved on the weekend.

[JlyneHanback] 8:55 pm: OMG moving - I feel for ya!

[JlyneHanback] 8:55 pm: Unpacking is the best part, though!

[mrogers] 8:55 pm: I have been doing Ali’s challenges from her AeZine

[JlyneHanback] 8:55 pm: I need to check those out

[scoobiescrapper] 8:55 pm: thanks. it’s not fun, not at all. the movers broke the light fixture in my scraproom so now I have to buy another one. wasn’t counting on that.

[JlyneHanback] 8:56 pm: Challenges are great because they give us a swift kick in the butt to do something. Or at least, they do for me!

[mrogers] 8:56 pm: she is so inspiring that Ali - love her!

[scoobiescrapper] 8:56 pm: I find them, I love them and then they sit on my desk.

[JlyneHanback] 8:56 pm: Oh that is a bummer about the light fixture! Do they pay to replace it, I hope?

[AngelBear] 8:56 pm: We have been hosting a charity even here for a few days with daily challenges

[scoobiescrapper] 8:57 pm: I think they took $10 off their fee. that’s about it.

[JlyneHanback] 8:57 pm: Oh wow, that was so generous of them! HAHA!

[scoobiescrapper] 8:57 pm: I won’t be recommending them, that’s for sure.

[mrogers] 8:57 pm: I saw the NICU card thread - I need to check that out - I have a NICU baby.  My Madison was born 10 weeks early!

[AngelBear] 8:57 pm: How old is she now

[JlyneHanback] 8:57 pm: I love that name - Madison!

[JlyneHanback] 8:58 pm: It is beautiful.

[mrogers] 8:58 pm: she is nine.  She does have cerebral palsy and is autistic.  A Challenge everyday, but she is my beauty queen

[newmommy2scrap] 8:59 pm: what is your biggest challenge with your LOs?

[JlyneHanback] 8:59 pm: My biggest challenge is to determine where to put my photos.

[JlyneHanback] 8:59 pm: My second biggest challenge is finding a good title that doesn’t sound dorky!

[~Tami Mayberry~] 8:59 pm: I didn’t think you had any challenges

[AngelBear] 8:59 pm: lol

[mrogers] 8:59 pm: I am title challenged..

[JlyneHanback] 8:59 pm: OH yeah RIGHT, Tami!!!! LOL!!!!!

[newmommy2scrap] 8:59 pm: do you prefer to hand write your journaling or type it?

[LynnAnne] 9:00 pm: LOL on the titles

[craftybull] 9:00 pm: my problem is titles too

[mrogers] 9:00 pm: I should write a book, how to pick a title for your page with out sounding like a dork, lol

[craftybull] 9:00 pm: I’ll buy it

[JlyneHanback] 9:00 pm: Typing all the way! Although when I am too lazy to effectively create a shaped title box, etc. I will usually hand-write.

[JlyneHanback] 9:00 pm: I would buy it!

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:00 pm: Instead of the for Dummies books it could be the Title Writing for Dorks book

[JlyneHanback] 9:00 pm: LOL! Scrapping for Dorks!

[JlyneHanback] 9:00 pm: hahahaha

[mrogers] 9:01 pm: I am afraid to handwrite titles….lol - need by sizzix or computer

[JlyneHanback] 9:01 pm: I think you are on to something!

[craftybull] 9:01 pm: sounds like a best seller

[JlyneHanback] 9:01 pm: I envy those with awesome handwriting for their journaling.

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:01 pm: yeah, it must be nice, I’m not that brave

[JlyneHanback] 9:01 pm: Mine looks like chicken scratch!!

[AngelBear] 9:01 pm: I can’t read my own handwriting so I never use it

[scoobiescrapper] 9:01 pm: Oh, Jlyne, wanted to tell you that when I was on vacation in Ontario in the summer I found one copy of the Chicken soup book and honest to God, the first page I opened was the one with your name on it. I bought the only copy they had left and I’ve read it twice now. Love that book.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:01 pm: I not a fan of my hand writing either

[mrogers] 9:01 pm: I have good handwriting - but I am not that brave….really I should just let go.

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:02 pm: So, Jlyne, what’s your latest big toot…I know you have to have something

[scoobiescrapper] 9:02 pm: I find the more I use the computer, the worse my handwriting gets.

[craftybull] 9:02 pm: which chicken soup book is it - I’d like to read it   I have a few of them

[JlyneHanback] 9:02 pm: Awww! That is so cool! I love the Chicken Soup book. It has some incredible stories in there!

[scoobiescrapper] 9:03 pm: chicken soup for the scrapbooker’s soul. it was amazing.

[JlyneHanback] 9:03 pm: The latest big toot - hmmmm, I think it would be that I am teaching for a charity event in Canada next November!

[catherine] 9:03 pm: Ahhhh, we all need a little Chicken Soup now and then

[JlyneHanback] 9:03 pm: I am so excited about it because it is for a great cause!

[AngelBear] 9:03 pm: Which one Jlyne

[mrogers] 9:03 pm: very cool Jlyne - do you have a plan on what you are teaching?

[catherine] 9:03 pm: which event Jlyne

[mrogers] 9:03 pm: anybody doing CKU in Detroit next year?

[JlyneHanback] 9:04 pm: I have narrowed it down to a few things, but I haven’t yet made a final decision.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:04 pm: what’s the cause?

[catherine] 9:04 pm: lol CSCFK?

[catherine] 9:04 pm: Canada’s Scrapbooking Crop for Kids?  Is that the event?

[craftybull] 9:05 pm: where will it be?

[Margie] 9:05 pm: What is Canada’s Scrapbook Crop for Kids?

[catherine] 9:05 pm: an event benefiting children’s hospitals across Canada

[JlyneHanback] 9:06 pm: Yes, that is it!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:06 pm: where is it being held?

[catherine] 9:06 pm: Scrapbook & Cards Today is one of the sponsors

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:07 pm: I hear that is a great magazine, sounds like a great cause to start things out

[JlyneHanback] 9:07 pm: I have never been to Canada!

[catherine] 9:07 pm: Edmonton, Vancouver, St. John, London, Toronto, Manitoba

[JlyneHanback] 9:07 pm: So I am really excited.

[craftybull] 9:07 pm: It’s the best mag

[mrogers] 9:07 pm: and the $ exchange is a cool thing, lol

[scoobiescrapper] 9:08 pm: Saint John - that’s my event.

[AngelBear] 9:08 pm: London…only an hour from me

[catherine] 9:08 pm: I am printing a copy of the mag for everyone who attends!!!!!

[AngelBear] 9:08 pm: fabulous

[AngelBear] 9:08 pm: WOW

[catherine] 9:08 pm: ty craftybull!!

[craftybull] 9:08 pm: that’s great Catherine

[scoobiescrapper] 9:08 pm: thank you Catherine, I’m sure we haven’t said it enough

[newmommy2scrap] 9:08 pm: wow

[JlyneHanback] 9:08 pm: Canada’s Crop for Kids

[scoobiescrapper] 9:09 pm: You guys will be hearing more about it very soon. we’re working on a new blog, website, the whole nine yards.

[JlyneHanback] 9:09 pm: Actually, I will be at the one in St. John!

[Jen Stewart] 9:09 pm: how fun!

[scoobiescrapper] 9:09 pm: YEAH!!!!!!!!! I’m soo soo soo sooo excited you are coming, just in case I haven’t told ya already!!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:09 pm: st john’s is supposed to be a great place to visit - never been there myself

[JlyneHanback] 9:09 pm: Since I have no idea where anything is in Canada, I don’t know what part of the country that is in!

[JlyneHanback] 9:09 pm: LOL!

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:10 pm: how fun, Jlyne…I wanna be like you when I grow up

[scoobiescrapper] 9:10 pm: It’s about an hour from Maine Jlyne.

[JlyneHanback] 9:10 pm: Oh Tami! You are so funny!!!!

[AngelBear] 9:10 pm: Your going to eastern canada…gorgeous area

[catherine] 9:11 pm: besides doing a layout contest at the event, how else do you all think Scrapbook & Cards Today could be involved?  Just curious

[JlyneHanback] 9:11 pm: I can’t share my other toots, yet.

[catherine] 9:14 pm: who is going to Memory Trends?

[JlyneHanback] 9:14 pm: I wish I were going this time!

[JlyneHanback] 9:14 pm: But I will be at Winter CHA.

[JlyneHanback] 9:16 pm: So what are you all excited about for Memory Trends releases - any new companies you are dying to see the products for?

[newmommy2scrap] 9:19 pm: Jlyne.. tell us about your family

[JlyneHanback] 9:20 pm: Well, I am married to Noel (for nine years) and have three kiddos - my oldest (Matt) is 15, I have Domonique who is 12, and Alexander who is 8.

[AngelBear] 9:20 pm: Your magazine is the talk on a lot of site Catherine…a lot of my American friends download it regularly

[JlyneHanback] 9:20 pm: And I have baby fever.

[JlyneHanback] 9:20 pm: LOL!

[catherine] 9:25 pm: Jlyne, your site has been an incredible tool for us to reach a great number of designers …. thank you

[JlyneHanback] 9:25 pm: Oh, wow, thanks! I am glad to have been able to help in any way!

[JlyneHanback] 9:25 pm: I wish I could do more.

[catherine] 9:26 pm: it would have been much more difficult to reach such a wide audience

[catherine] 9:26 pm: what is your reach with your newsletter?

[JlyneHanback] 9:26 pm: We have over a hundred thousand subscribers I know, but not sure how many over that.

[JlyneHanback] 9:27 pm: I think around 148,000?

[newmommy2scrap] 9:27 pm: what do you like to do in your spare time other than scrap?

[JlyneHanback] 9:28 pm: In my spare time I love to cook (although have a lot to learn!), take pictures, be an activist for various causes, and attend school events with my kiddos.

[JlyneHanback] 9:28 pm: Oh - and I am the family taxi. LOL

[scoobiescrapper] 9:29 pm: that’s right, you’re the mom, the mom always gets to be the chauffeur

[JlyneHanback] 9:29 pm: Yeah - like the truck needs to be painted with black and yellow checkerboards…

[catherine] 9:30 pm: aren’t we all chauffeurs, doctors, dentists, teachers…lol

[JlyneHanback] 9:30 pm: “Domestic Engineers”. LOL

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:30 pm: don’t forget referees

[AngelBear] 9:30 pm: and we don’t get paid enough but the fringe benefits are fabulous

[catherine] 9:31 pm: Jlyne, how could a magazine, such as SCT, gain more exposure on your site and to your subscribers?

[JlyneHanback] 9:32 pm: Well, Scrapsubmit is in the process of offering a brand new advertisement option - please e-mail Tech Support for details because they aren’t ready to release it to all the mags just yet.

[JlyneHanback] 9:32 pm: You can e-mail at admin@ scrapsubmit.com

[newmommy2scrap] 9:32 pm: do you have any tips for people who are just submitting their work for the 1st time?

[JlyneHanback] 9:33 pm: First timers - here is what I suggest:

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:33 pm: or not the first time…and just desperate

[JlyneHanback] 9:33 pm: #1. Always submit everything! Even if a project or layout doesn’t fit a specific call - most of the mags will hold onto submissions for a period of time.

[JlyneHanback] 9:33 pm: #2. Send a clear scan or photo - learn how to enhance the color and clarity in a photo editing program such as Adobe Elements.

[scoobiescrapper] 9:34 pm: what is a good way to keep track of what you sent to who?

[newmommy2scrap] 9:34 pm: wonderful tips!  Thanks!!

[JlyneHanback] 9:34 pm: #3. Include complete information - it is very helpful (I know this is especially true for BHG) to include everything in the submissions - it helps cut down on additional e-mails back and forth from the editors later on.

[JlyneHanback] 9:34 pm: I use Scrapsubmit to keep track within my Scrapfolio - but you could easily use a spreadsheet, notebook, etc.

[catherine] 9:35 pm: from this end, send each one in a different email

[JlyneHanback] 9:35 pm: #4. On each page, always include a clear photo(s), title, and journaling.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:35 pm: that’s a great way to organize that type of info!

[scoobiescrapper] 9:35 pm: more info than journaling, your info …

[JlyneHanback] 9:35 pm: Each layout should contain those three things.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:35 pm: wonderful!

[AngelBear] 9:36 pm: Do you find that more one or two page layouts are being published?

[JlyneHanback] 9:36 pm: Some mags will pick up layouts without journaling, etc. but if you cover all three, then your chances are increased dramatically. Scrapbooking is about preserving the story, to most readers.

[JlyneHanback] 9:36 pm: I think more two-page layouts are being published/going to be published.

[JlyneHanback] 9:36 pm: I have seen that trend in BHG very recently.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:37 pm: what’s the hardest subject to scrap about 4 u?

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:37 pm: I think that is my biggest problem…I don’t journal…that’s why I have more success with cards and paper crafts

[JlyneHanback] 9:37 pm: For me, the most difficult thing is to do events pages, but other than that I would have to say that scrapbooking pages containing photos taken before the hurricane have been the hardest for me.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:38 pm: do you have on-line sources of the pages that you lost?

[JlyneHanback] 9:38 pm: I prefer to scrap every day moments rather than things like Christmas, birthdays, etc. although I do have tons of unscrapped photos from those events! LOL!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:39 pm: me too!! Lol

[AngelBear] 9:39 pm: me too

[JlyneHanback] 9:39 pm: Well, luckily I have the scans of the pages I lost, because I scan each and every page I create. When we evacuated, I took my hard drive out of my computer and took it with us!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:39 pm: I find Xmas the hardest holiday to scrap.  What about you?

[JlyneHanback] 9:39 pm: So I still have them on my computer. Later I hope to recreate them.

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:39 pm: Do you think that is what makes the title part so hard…events…they are hard to really put a title on

[newmommy2scrap] 9:39 pm: thank goodness 4 that

[JlyneHanback] 9:40 pm: Christmas is hard for me because there are so many photos! I don’t tend to use a ton of photos on my pages – usually just one or two really clear ones.

[newmommy2scrap] 9:40 pm: I love scrapping with single photos

[AngelBear] 9:40 pm: I have the same problem with Christmas…with 3 Christmas every year it’s hard

[JlyneHanback] 9:40 pm: I am doing more multiple photo, two pagers, though! Just did one for the Mar/Apr BHG!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:40 pm: can you give us a heads up on the topic of it?

[JlyneHanback] 9:41 pm: Yeah, when titling events pages, I hate to use the same cliché over and over. I like to try to think of something different, but it is not easy!

[JlyneHanback] 9:41 pm: It is a two-page Easter spread!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:41 pm: what your favourite colour scheme to use?

[newmommy2scrap] 9:41 pm: I’m a green and blue person

[JlyneHanback] 9:42 pm: I would say I use black backgrounds the most (white would be second) in conjunction with vivid greens, oranges, and blues.

[JlyneHanback] 9:42 pm: Me too!

[JlyneHanback] 9:42 pm: I love green and blue!

[JlyneHanback] 9:42 pm: And my daughter was never really a “girly-girl” until this year, so most of her photos work well with blue and green. HA!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:42 pm: I find the hardest colours to scrap are purple and pink

[JlyneHanback] 9:43 pm: I think my hardest color is Yellow.

[JlyneHanback] 9:43 pm: I love the Chatterbox orange, blues, and greens.

[catherine] 9:43 pm: seems yellow is difficult for many

[newmommy2scrap] 9:43 pm: I love the “hunt” for that perfect PP… what about you?

[JlyneHanback] 9:43 pm: Me too, although I still tend to reach for Chatterbox first. Guess it has become habit for the last few years!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:44 pm: have you ventured much into the digital side of scrapping at all?

[JlyneHanback] 9:44 pm: Oh my, I am terrified to even attempt digi because I am afraid I will never turn back!

[JlyneHanback] 9:44 pm: And I am afraid of another obsession!

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:45 pm: Oh, yeah I love black backgrounds! Most of the layouts I have done lately are black bgs…although they are one photo with no journaling…so not really what most of the mag are wanting right now

[newmommy2scrap] 9:45 pm: I have just opened that pandora’s box this week for the first time (digi)… I can see it becoming an addiction!

[newmommy2scrap] 9:46 pm: ho0w many years have you been scrapping?

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:46 pm: I love that digi is easy to clean up      Just a click of the mouse!

[JlyneHanback] 9:46 pm: I never did a lot of journaling until I started designing for Chatterbox, then Melody (Ross) really opened my eyes to the importance of including journaling, although sometimes it is nice to just do a page for the art’s sake of creating!

[JlyneHanback] 9:46 pm: I have been scrapping since 2002.

[JlyneHanback] 9:46 pm: But I have hoarded ephemera, etc. for years, and have always been fascinated by photography.

[~Tami Mayberry~] 9:47 pm: But you know, those events photos just taken for the fun of taking them are hard to have anything to really say anything about

[newmommy2scrap] 9:47 pm: do you like taking your own photos?

[JlyneHanback] 9:49 pm: Well ladies, it has been awesome to be here and chat with each of you! I am very honored to have been asked to join you!
