A funny for you….
October 30th, 2008

Lauren Meader from My Time, My Creations, My Stampendence created this beautiful Onesie card, and was then inundated with requests to explain how she created it. She was gracious enough to post a tutorial to her blog so that everyone could create their own cards. Her only request was that people remember to give credit to her for the tutorial and to use the cards for personal use only. With that said, I have posted her card image with her permission, and hope that everyone who enjoys the tutorial will be kind enough to leave her a post and tell her how you found her.
Thanks for sharing so many great projects Lauren!

Have you ever tried looking for a monogram to match a layout you are doing and end up changing the entire layout to match the monograms you have?
Monograms are actually very easy to make. You can make them in various sizes and print them on whichever patterned paper you are working with.
To get started, you need a software program similar to Photoshop Elements.
Start a new document, 8″ x 10″ and 300 dpi with a white background.
In the Tool Palette, choose the text tool (a capital T).
In text properties box, choose your font and set the size you would like to use. I typically choose a very large font size, such as 400 or 500 points.
Type in the letter for your monogram.
Now, you need to change the color of the letter to a very pale color before you print it. Click on the color option, choose more colours (color picker). I tend to use f2f2f2 to get a very light gray. You want the colour to be light enough to not be seen through your patterned paper, but dark enough that you will be able to see it to cut it out.
Before you print the monogram, you need to create a mirror of the letter. Choose image, rotate and flip on the horizontal.
You now have the mirror image and are ready to print the monogram onto the reverse side of your patterned paper.
Once printed, cut out the monogram and adhere it to your layout.
This tutorial was found in the Creative Crafts and Stickers Resource center. Come and check out all the cool things you can do!

And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. - Abraham Lincoln
Celebrate we will, because life is short but sweet for certain. - Dave Matthews Band, lyrics from “Two Step”

Here is a quick and simple tip that was sent in by Katie Paterson:
“To clean you acrylic blocks, use a Magic Eraser. Removes all ink even Stazons!!”
I never even thought if this before and thanks to Katie’s tip…. I have a Magic Eraser in my kit now.
Thanks Katie for this tip. You have earned a ballot for this month’s Blog Prize Draw. If anyone else has a tip they would like to share with us please email me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca and put CCAS Blog Tip in the subject line for a ballot for the draw.

This week’s challenge is a Bold challenge. I would like to see you use bold colors. Go bright and show off your photos. Using Bold colors can seem intimidating. I know, I used to shy away from them too. One day I was challenged to step outside of my comfort zone and create with bold colors. It took me awhile but I loved the results. So much, in fact, that I am always looking for color in my layouts now.
Here is my bold layout. It is a layout of Paige and showcases her lovely smile. I used a great kit I received from Scrapdango. It s this month’s Sugar kit. If you like the look of it just wait until you see next month’s!!

Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca or link it to this post for a ballot for this month’s Blog Prize Draw.
