Archive for Monthly Challenges

The Fabulous Photo Contest is HERE!

Join the WeScrap iTeam all month long in July for a daily photography challenge.

Here’s how to play along…

1. Each day a new prompt will be posted for you to see. This could be another inspiring photo by that day’s iTeam member, a quote, a poem or just a simple question asked by one of our iTeam. You must then take a photo of something that the prompt has inspired you to take. The prompt is just a starting point for you to take photos so how you interpret the prompt is all yours.

2. You will have 48 hours to post your photo in the Fabulous Photos Contest gallery and then link your photo’s thumbnail to the corresponding prompt for the day. You must also include with your photo, how that specific prompt inspired you to take the photo you did.

RULES:

1. All of your photos must be NEW! You cannot use previously taken photos. Remember…. the prompt can inspire you to take a photo of ANYTHING… even something inside your house!! NO OLD PHOTOS UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED!

2. All photos must be your own and must have been take by you or someone in your household.

PRIZES:

One randomly selected winner will win a gift certificate to spend in the WeScrap store.
One photograph will be chosen by the iTeam members as being the most inspirational and will also receive a gift certificate to spend in the WeScrap store.

Random RAKS may also be given out to participants by individual iTeam members throughout the month.

The contest will run everyday until the last day of July. Contest winners will be announced in early August.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! We can’t wait to see what you capture!

Feb. 1st ~ Cluster It

Your challenge for this week is to make a small cluster of embellishments on your next layout or card. It is actually quite easy to do. Just pick out some of your favorite embellishments. I am partial to flowers and buttons. Play around with them until you find a look that you are pleased with. I tend to cluster them around a photo corner or journal spot.

In this layout of Paige I chose to cluster around both the photo corner as well as the journal spot & title. I used a fun flourish element, a great Whimsy button and some pretty gem brads.

You have until the end of the month to send me your layout. You will then earn a ballot for the monthly RAK provided by weScrap!! Email me your layout when you are done. I would love to see it.

Happy Scrapping!

Broken Title Challenge

Let’s start the New Year with an easy challenge!! I would like to see you break your title.

Huh??

I would like you to separate your title. You can use a hyphen, use different fonts or just wrap it around a photo or journal spot. The choice is up to you. It can add visual interest to your page and guide the eye around a photo.

I chose to wrap it around a sweet photo of my twin girls, Emmy and DD. It helps to guide your eye around the picture of my girls.

Email your creation to me and I will give you a ballot for a RAK donated by weScrap! We will also highlight all the layouts that come in at the end of the month!

Happy Creating!

December 2009 Challenge

We are going to go back to the basic formula everyone seems to love. We will be posting a challenge to get you going each month. Anyone who completes the challenge will earn a ballot for a RAK which will be supplied by weScrap. It will be a random draw, giving everyone a chance to win.
This month I would like to see you hide your journaling.

How many times have you started a layout and realized that you don’t have room for your journaling?? Or once you begin you decide not to put your journaling on your layout because it may distract from the design??

I used to make tags all the time to hide my journaling. I decided on the following layout to make a coordinating tag to place my journaling on. I had a story to tell and I didn’t want to leave it out but I also didn’t want to distract from the page.

Here is a layout of Paige with the hidden tag:

I sprayed some lovely Glimmer Mist on my tag. Here is a close up:

Challenge: I would like to see you hide your journaling on your layout. Email it to me or link it below to earn a ballot for the draw. Email me.

Layout Layering

One of the things I love to see on a layout is layering. I did the following layout of  my dog, Storm, that we had to put down two weeks ago.

LayoutLayering

See how all the papers are layered and distressed? It adds instant dimension to a page and visual interest.

I challenge you to layer your papers and email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the monthly draw!

Sew on Your Next Layout

As most of you know….. I love to hand stitch on my layouts. I recently purchased some amazing American Crafts paper from my trip to The Scrapping Bug. Love the new line so much that I bought all of it.

On the following layout of DD I also added some Ruby Rock It butterfly pop-up embellishments. These are simply fabulous. I poked some holes in by hand along the shaped paper and hand stitched.

SewOnYourLayout

Challenge: I would love to see you sew on your next layout. Don’t be intimidated, it can be something as simple as two little stitches by hand or elaborate with a machine. Email your creations to me to earn a ballot for this months blog draw. Please put CCAS Blog in your subject line so it doesn’t get lost in my inbox. Thanks.

Use Bright and Bold Color

Most of you know that I love a good bright and bold layout. One of my favorite paper lines for this recently has been Basic Grey’s Lime Rickey collection. I just had to buy it even though it seemed a little young for my kids. BUT…. when I finally sat down and opened it I was inspired by the bright colors to make a Back to School layout of Paige.

I used a great sketch that was posted at Let’s Capture These Memories sketch blog. Here is the layout I created:
