I think my birthday was a success. If I can judge it by the smiles on my kids faces, then yes, it was an enormous success. After soccer tonight, the kids and my hubbie went behind closed doors to wrap my birthday present and some Christmas presents for me. When they emerged, my son was carrying a “very breakable” present. It looked a lot like a bottle of wine, but given that I don’t drink wine, I was sure it was something else. (Besides that, they don’t sell wine at the drug store, and that is where my daughter went shopping yesterday!)
I slowly opened my gift, making my way through layers of tape and tissue, to find a beautiful snowman head snowglobe. It is just precious. And, given that my kids picked it out together, without an adult, I love it that much more. I was actually really very impressed. I thank them both and gave them hugs and high fives.
After we ate my cake (which my family decided to put the ENTIRE box of candles on top of), my daughter told me that I liked the gift a lot more than she thought I would. At this point, both kids were beaming with joy. I told them I loved it and that they had made my birthday the best one ever.
Thanks to all of you for your kind words, and happy thoughts today. I feel lucky to be so loved!
