Homemade Placemats

There is nothing more fun than sitting down to a meal with a homemade placemat.
What you will need:

  • construction paper
  • markers
  • stickers
  • clear contact paper

Give each child a large piece of paper and markers. Write their name and the date, and then let the child draw some designs. Once they have finished drawing with the markers, let them add stickers to the placemat.
When the child has determined that the placemat is complete, either cover the construction paper with clear contact paper or have it laminated.
Now that you have a homemade placemat, your child will want to make one for each season or holiday.
As long as the placemats don’t get ruined, you can keep them together and then once you are done with them, have them bound together to save like a scrapbook.
Another variation for an older child is to give them magazines and catalogues and let them cut out the letters of their name and then glue them onto the paper.
