That last trip you took that you raved about for weeks, your kid’s graduation, your wedding; what they all have in common is that they need to go into a scrapbook so your memories are kept intact and fresh, and you and friends and family can pull that scrapbook down whenever you want to and relive the occasion. Scrap booking has become a marketing force to be reckoned with lately, and has grown in popularity because so many people are becoming addicted to scrap booking.
We are all different in what appeals to us and what we like, but one thing is certain; we all wax reminiscent at one time or another and want to keep a record of what is going on in our lives so that we can not only look at the events and relive them over and over again, but we can share them with others. What fun to see that little dried flower on the scrapbook page and remember the field filled with them on that wonderful trip of a lifetime that you took; and there is the photo of that same field on the page right next to the actual flower—-you can almost smell them again and feel the way you did when you were actually walking and snapping the photo in that field. And the same thing and reawakening of feelings takes place with other events too, if you have them chronicled in a scrapbook. No wonder people become addicted to scrap booking.
It doesn’t matter what the subject is of your scrapbook; anything is up for grabs, but the most often used subjects that make folks addicted to scrap booking, is anything to do with a baby, graduations, weddings, family reunions, trips of a lifetime—–things like that, where the memories are too precious to be forgotten and not spotlighted in a form (like a scrapbook) where the event can be displayed and embellished so it is never forgotten. Remember the corsage you saved from your first prom; or the lock of hair from your baby; or the maple leaf of glorious red that you picked up off the ground while you were vacationing in that wonderful bed and breakfast in Vermont.
There are so many facets of our lives that get swept under the rug and forgotten unless we make an effort to save them in some sort of a tangible way, and keeping a scrapbook is a perfect venue for that. Just think of the fun it is to pull down a scrapbook you haven’t looked at for years and thumb through the pages reliving the experiences documented on the pages, and feeling the same thrills and happiness that you experienced while the event was taking place. And another thing that would make someone addicted to scrap booking, is the fact that you can hand that scrapbook down to the next generation so that they can see a true family record as it was happening.
So, the biggest obstacle in starting a scrapbook is where to get the materials you need to start one. For starters, there are many specialty stores out there now that have all the supplies you will ever need for a scrapbook, including special papers, accents, letters and numbers, glitters and all kinds of paints, frames for photos for putting on the pages, themes and cutouts, computer templates; you name it, and these stores have it. Being addicted to scrap booking is no longer an infrequent occurrence; every town in the world has at least one person who is hooked and is keeping the spirit of scrap booking alive.
Check out the Internet. There are thousands of sites dedicated to scrap booking, but by far the largest online store for those who are interested in finding materials and help with scrap booking is called Addicted To Scrap Booking. It is an all inclusive site online with all the materials you will ever need and then some, and there are hints, classes, help of all kinds, blogs, forums and just anything and everything that has to do with scrap booking.
