Bleeding Cowboys Font

Today’s font is called:

The Bleeding Cowboys font was first seen on the DaFont website in 2007, but it has since been updated. It was created by Gyom Séguin, a graphic designer, illustrator and artist from Canada. Gyom claims, “I am a graphic designer that listens to rock music and designs rocking fonts!” Gyom also has over 40 fonts available.

While researching this font, I found out some interesting things regarding Gyom. I went over to is website which is as plain and simple as his payment philosophy. His hope is that you like his work. So, if you DO like it and you think that it is worth anything to you, simply send him a donation via PayPal. You can find that link on the download page that the above links will take you too. Now, how cool would that be to have Gyom wake up tomoorow and find a few extra dollars in his bank account because of this post?

In addition to typography (fonts) Gyom also creates logos and apparel design. Let him know how you learned about him and thank him for his contributions!

Remember that although we take you to places that offer free font downloads, there are still copyright laws that cover them. Please make yourself aware of HOW you can use the free download by reading and becoming familiar with the extra files that are always available with a free download.

Today’s featured font is:

When I first saw this font, I was half tempted to place each letter in a different color. I tend to go with the fonts that show more definition. The ones that have creativity within themselves. This particular font, reminds me of the type of doodling that I used to do on my high school notebooks. Inevitably, I would go back through with different colors to fill in the solid areas. I would often fill in the lined areas making stripes or even different patterns.

Please Show Me Love font is another free font offered by Andrew2.  This font features what appears to be hand drawn letters with doodling in the letters. Some letters have stripes, some include scribbles some are solid and some are outlined. The complete set includes only lowercase letters.  You may download Please Show Me Love font in TrueType font, as well as OpenType font formatted files for your installation.

A Charming Font

Today’s featured font is:

As I was searching for a new font this week, I came across “A Charming Font”. As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the television series that I used to watch called Charmed. It is an ongoing saga about three sisters who happen to have special powers. Throughout the series the sisters learn how to use their powers to help others as well as each other. Growing up the oldest in a family of three girls, it was inevitable that Charmed would end up being one of our favorite television shows.

“A Charming Font” is offered by 1001 Free Fonts. 1001 Free Fonts has created thousands of free fonts available for both Windows and Mac. You may visit 1001 Free Fonts to preview and download “A Charming Font” custom font. How to Download Fonts

Free Fonts – Tips for Downloads

In order to add new fonts, you will have to download it to your computer. Once downloaded, you will then have to install. If you have installed it correctly, it will become available to you in the various software packages you have on your computer.

Most fonts and dingbats available are True Type Fonts (TTFs). The True Type font is the most common font format used by both Mac OS X and Windows platforms. However the process to download them and be able to use them is different. The following is provided as guidance in hopes it will help you with any arising issues you encounter. If these examples are not helpful we suggest typing your question into a Google search; Google knows everything!

FOR PC:

Unzip the files you have downloaded.

Details: Click on the “Download” button, save the zip somewhere on your hard disk, go to the place where it is saved, double-click on the zip to open it, then either click on “Extraxt all files” or drag and drop the files elsewhere from the zip window (hold down the CTRL key to select several files at once)
For the 20th century versions of Windows you must install an unzip tool first.

Under Windows Vista:
Select the font files (.ttf, .otf or .fon) then Right-click > Install

Under any version of Windows:
Place the font files (.ttf, .otf or .fon) into the Fonts folder, usually C:\Windows\Fonts or C:\WINNT\Fonts
(can be reached as well by the Start Menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Fonts).

Note that with the internal unzip tool of Windows (unlike Winzip), you cannot install a font by a simple drag and drop of the .ttf from the zip window to the Fonts window. You must first drag and drop it anywhere (for example on the desktop) then into the Fonts folder.
You can also go through: File > Install a new font… in the Fonts folder menu then browse the fonts, instead of drag and drop the fonts into the window. Although this method is laborious, it would seem that it functions better in some cases.

There are some videos on YouTube if that helps.

Tip: If you need a font immediately, you don’t need to install it. Just double-click on the .ttf file, and while the preview window is opened you can use it in most of the programs you’ll launch (one exception being OpenOffice).

FOR MAC:

Mac OS X recognizes TrueType and OpenType fonts (.ttf and .otf) but not the PC bitmap fonts (.fon).
Files are compressed, you may need an utility like Stuffit Expander.

Under Mac OS X 10.3 or above (including the FontBook):
Double-click the font file > “Install font” button at the bottom of the preview.

Under any version of Mac OS X:
Put the files into /Library/Fonts (for all users),
or into /Users/Your_username/Library/Fonts (for you only).

Under Mac OS 9 or earlier:
The old Mac fonts are not typically supported anymore. You must convert the font files (.ttf or .otf) you have downloaded.
Then drag the fonts suitcases into the System folder. The system will prompt you to add them to the Fonts folder.
